Excellent tip, WontLeave. I use Google docs but had no idea it would store PDFs. I will check that out this afternoon.

some know it as the big eight, the eight watchtower flip-flops, the eight flop puzzle, etc.
the following essay, designed for those newly-interested in studying with jehovah's witnesses, cautions that person in what he / she may be getting into.
it not only has a well-organized table of the classic wt quotations which watchtower cannot deny, but it explores the following questions.

jw's face a tide of "no"s and "not interested"s everytime they go banging on the doors, surely it would have occurred to them by now that the vast majority of the public don't want to know and don't want them at their doors.
but do they acknowledge or listen to this?
regardless of wether they have priviously been told not to call or not still they come.. they claim that its because jesus has comanded them to do so.
For the next time they come to your door --
The following single-page document contains 6 cutouts / handouts which can easily fit in a billfold, shirt pocket, purse, etc. They are miniature tables of the infamous series of 8 Watchtower contradictions (yes, no, yes, etc) of whether Sodomites will receive a resurrection.
Most will, of course, discard it. But you never know and they may explore it further, looking up the full-fledge essay on the subject.

Watchtower Contradiction Of Major Importance
Perhaps you are experiencing the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses (JWs) for the first time so the news that there is a serious contradiction in one of their teachings may come as a surprise. You may be studying the Bible with them. You note that they are very friendly. You may have been to a meeting at some Kingdom Hall and find nothing but what you've seen at your house – friendly and kind people.
More important, you've had Bible questions and they seem to have all the answers from their Watchtower-based publications.
By now you may have surmised that I've also studied the Bible with them before – and you're right. However, that was many years ago and I never thought of asking them a very important question during that time. Next time you see them, and if it's important to you, you may wish to ask:
Has Watchtower literature ever contradicted itself? I won't pretend to know for certain what answer you will get. I think the answer will be NO! However, that question may raise some suspicion that you have been looking at non-JW literature. The JW will probably urge you to dispose of such reading material into the nearest trash, claiming that it is dangerous to your spiritual health. The fact, however, that you have not yet been baptized gives you the freedom to choose what you will or won't do. As a result, there are less punitive measures they can place on you.
Whether Watchtower has ever contradicted itself is an important question to ask them. Contradictions are loathsome to JWs, so offensive that Watchtower publications caution its adherents, "Why must we accept everything that the churches teach when many of the teachings are confusing and contradictory?"1 So while your JW teacher may be somewhat suspicious of the source of your question, he / she will welcome that question knowing fully well what they claim.
Watchtower publications claim that they themselves have not authored teachings which revert ... (continued)

Finally, there is a separate downloadable document which has convenient cutouts for billfold or purse. This document is a miniature basic table of the infamous 8 quotation citations.

the first i became aware that one existed was 2005. but i was under some rock till then.. the other question is have should probably be fielded in some other thread but i'll ask it here anyway .
how long have watchtower writers been creating their magazine articles, books, booklets, etc., by using computer software?.
len.
Thanks for being not so quiet, The Quiet One. Noting that you are a relative newcomer, welcome! We all hope to hear more from you.
Hey, Honesty, sounds like you may have been inside when that 1993 edition was released. Yes, with all that ammunition that may have been the origin of most of the e xposes on the internet. What they've printed is the WT's worst enemy.

i just realized that today marks my first year since attending a meeting at the kh... i really wanted to celebrate this day but it just creeped up and its kinda late now... i guess i'll celebrate tomorrow night instead.. but i wanted to log in to thank everyone who has helped me with their valuable insight and perspective... i came to this site with a typical judgemental jw mentality and now i can say i'm completely rid of all that... i now value everyone's opinions and talk more freely with people i used to consider "worldly"... what a completely freeing experience!.
the hardest part of my exit from the cult was convincing my wife... that took about 6 months and i nearly gave up... thank god she eventually woke up.. also, in the past year i've read.... gentile times reconsideredcombatting mind controlcrisis of conscience*in search of christian freedomapocalypse delayed*3 books out of the 7 "studies in the scriptures"5 rutherford books*i met 2 of the people mentioned in crisis of conscience and apocalypse delayed and had dinner with them recently... hoping to build that relationship further.. i've also sent about 26 emails to several elders on a variety of subjects and 6 letters to the brooklyn and i'm still not da's or df'd!
none of these emails or letters changed anything but it helped me purge.... i could go on and on but it's the same story you've probably read a thousand times already.. anyway, if it wasn't for all the support and encouragement i received on this site (as well as randy's site and barbara's site), i wouldn't be where i am today.. so a big thank you to you all!!!.
Hi Alfred,
You may be thanking some of us and that's fine -- but we need to be thanking you for that volume of Studies in the Scriptures that you expertly picked apart with a 50 item checklist. It gave many of us an insight as to what was really being taught in those early years. Thanks to Google, folks will be able to have access to that thread for many years to come.
As a reminder to others, the thread was entitled, " Finished Mystery (1917)... The book that Jesus approved.."

the united states patent and trademark office (pto) announced today their rejection of the phrase, new light, by the infamous and self-appointed seer and prophet, harold camping.
camping has drawn severe criticism from opposers when he unsucessfully foretold that may 21 would be the date when the rapture would occur.
he has since altered his forecast and now says that october 21, 2011, is his finalized prediction.
Wow! Two of those positions have not been included in my essay on doctrinal flip-flops. I will be adding the WT 1967, p 409 (no resurrection) and the Awake! 1974, Oct 8, p. 20 (yes, resurrection)
To repeat -- that brings the number of different Watchtower-published teaching positions to 8 -- go ahead, count them like I just did. If you are a JW lurker I encourage you to get out your own Watchtower CD library and check them for yourself. No, you won't find the first two as the CD only begins with 1950. But after you find the final 6 I suspect you will be motivated enough to dig for yourself those earlier publications -- if you think you need 2 more.
Please note that the video incorrectly ascribes the latter AWAKE! quotation to WT 1974 Oct 15, p 20. It took a bit of research this morning on my WT Library CD to uncover that one but I'm glad I persisted.
Please pass that on to the original author of that video as I'm sure he/she will be most happy to make a correction to that otherwise great illustrative tool.

Hi Garyneal,
Hey, what a video. I counted 8 different positions in that excellent spoof, writing down those sources. Will check for myself later.
Thanks for sharing.

ps: His "Thank you vurrrrry much" sounded a bit like an exaggerated Elvis Presley. Hmmm ... I wonder if he's now resurrected and working for us in a new role?
